“Millions of Americans find courage to confront drug addiction every year. This grant will help build a facility to support recovery for those battling substance abuse.”
WASHINGTON – Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced a $6 million grant from the Department of Agriculture to transform a former nursing home into a new psychiatric hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana.
“Millions of Americans find courage to confront drug addiction every year. This grant will help build a facility to support recovery for those battling substance abuse,” said Kennedy.
The project will focus on renovating the facility and supplying furniture and medical equipment. As an acute mental health care facility, Mercy Behavioral Hospital will provide psychiatric evaluation, individual therapy, education classes, aftercare planning, relapse prevention and outpatient services for follow-up care.
